THE OPPORTUNITY
One of North America's fastest-growing high-speed beverage manufacturers is adding an OT/Controls Systems Engineer to its Glendale, AZ facility. This is a high-visibility, on-site role at the intersection of Information Technology and Operational Technology, where the work you do has a direct and immediate impact on production.
You will serve as the on-site technical resource: keeping critical manufacturing systems running, supporting the automation team, and leading both reactive problem-solving and proactive project work. Priorities shift based on what the plant needs, and the right candidate will thrive in that variability. The role is roughly 50% plant-floor OT systems (automation and controls support) and 50% IT/OT infrastructure and systems integration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Systems Support & Maintenance
Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot OT and IT systems, including MES and OEE platforms critical to daily operations.
Support and troubleshoot PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems across the plant floor (Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition, or equivalent platforms).
Provide Tier 2 technical support to the automation team
independently diagnosing and resolving escalated incidents.
Operate effectively across both legacy control systems and modern technology platforms.
Project Execution
Plan and lead small-to-mid-scale projects independently, including system upgrades, plant-requested changes, and self-initiated improvements.
Develop and execute preventive monitoring strategies to address potential issues before they affect production.
Communicate project status and technical findings clearly to plant leadership and operations stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with the OT team, plant and operations leadership, and the broader operations team.
Translate complex technical matters into clear, actionable information for non-technical colleagues and leadership.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Beyond technical qualifications, this role calls for intellectual curiosity, sound independent judgment, and the ability to drive toward resolution in a fast-moving environment. You take ownership of outcomes, communicate with confidence at every level of the organization, and are energized by challenges that do not come with a defined playbook. A genuine appetite for continuous learning is essential in an environment where technology continues to evolve.
REQUIRED
2 7 years in OT, controls, or IT within a manufacturing environment
Hands-on experience with PLC, SCADA, or HMI systems (Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition, or equivalent)
Working knowledge of manufacturing automation or plant-floor control systems
Proven ability to independently manage incidents and projects end to end
Clear communicator with non-technical stakeholders at all levels
Comfortable in a high-variability environment where operational needs drive priorities
PREFERRED
Food & beverage, alcohol, or CPG manufacturing experience
Background with a systems integrator or automation vendor
Exposure to OT/IT platforms such as Palo Alto, VMware, Cisco, MES, or OEE systems
Familiarity with IT/OT convergence or OT cybersecurity fundamentals
WHY THIS ROLE
Exposure to a breadth of OT/IT systems that is difficult to find at this career stage.
On-site ownership with direct operational impact, your decisions are visible and they matter.
A high-growth organization with a demonstrated track record of developing and promoting engineering talent.
Relocation assistance is available for candidates outside the greater Phoenix area.
